In Memoriam - Suzanne Paquette Lawrence, 1937-2010

As unbelievable as it is to so many of her dear friends, our dear Suzanne Lawrence passed from our arms this past weekend. Her lifelong friend Carol Lindberg put together this note below.

Dear VHS Classmates,

I’m sad to write that Suzanne Paquette Lawrence passed away, July 30, 2010.

Recently, Suzanne hadn't been feeling like her energetic self. That evening she lost consciousness and her grandson, Kyle, called 911.  Her heart stopped beating a few minutes after arriving at the hospital.  The doctor said that she died of cardiac arrest.

Suzanne was a historian, author, actor, and presenter, portraying women of distinction in Ventura County’s history and women of the Bible.  She was a docent for the Museum of Ventura County for twenty years and served our community by educating students, County residents, and organizations through her dramatizations of historical significance.  Her work with the Tortilla Flats Project, Focus on the Masters, and the San Buenaventura Conservancy was important to her and very beneficial to Ventura.

Her three children that survive her are Matthew Lawrence, Laurie Ludwig, Gwendolyn Alley Sheridan - and of course, their families.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Museum of Ventura County at the above address.  Please write “Research Library” in the memo.

Here’s to a wonderful friend, who was accepting of all people, generous with her talents, and a researcher extraordinaire.

Carol Lindberg
